Za airy flawless powder foundation

Za is one of my favourite brand for powder foundations.

The packaging comes in a baby pink case with mirror and sponge.

The sponge is unique. One side is the usual sponge which gives a natural look.

Other side is more furry - the side which I favour more, due to the finish.

I will blot once every four to five hours due to my oily T zone.

I can blot less frequently if I use innisfree no sebum sunscreen underneath this. Adding catrice goodbye pores primer to these gives me the perfect look that I like. 😍

It does oxidise slightly, using primer helps. 😊

This product will suit you if you  prefer the "your skin, but better" look, and not going after coverage (like me).

Pros:
Packaging
Sponge
Natural ook on skin

Cons:
Oxidises
Not much coverage

innisfree no sebum sunscreen

I decided to try this as the words "no sebum" catches my attention.

Like what online reviewers say.. It does give a white cast.

It is best to apply this in front of a mirror as it is thick and dries or fast. It might leave white patches on your face if not applied evenly.

But this is still my new favourite! It does help in blurring out my uneven skin texture and controlling my oily T zone, much better than other sunscreens that I have ever used. I only use this under makeup due to the white cast . I got compliment on my look (which I normally don't) when I use this with catrice goodbye pores primer followed by ZA Airy Flawless powder foundation.

I will definitely continue to buy this. 😁

Pros:
Affordable, drugstore price
Works well under makeup
Controls sebum
Blurs put uneven texture

Cons

White cast
Difficult to spread

Update: Dec 2021
I currently mix it (1:2 ratio) with other sunscreens. It makes other sunscreens more matte and at the same time more blendable as compared to using this sunscreen on its own. =)

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

I decided to try out the highly raved Maybelline Fit Me Foundation - matte+poreless. I chose the lightest shade 115.

On my first attempt to wear the foundation, I went out after putting it on my entire face - the usual way which I wear any other foundation.. Without any primer.

Hours later, my face became super orange.. Just like a pumpkin 🎃..
I went to Google and learnt that this is due to oxidisation. Possible solutions found are:
- choose a lighter shade (not possible as this is already the lightest shade available in Singapore)
- use a primer before putting on foundation ( yes! This worked for me.. 😁)

The product claimed that it is
- matte
- poreless

I like how it looks on my skin. It does make my pores less obvious.

It kept me matte for about 4 hours. Like other foundations, blotting of T zone is required for me. Another pro - no foundation was transferred to the tissue when blotting.

After 8 hours of wearing I started to see some texture near my mouth.

Overall, this is definitely worth a try, considering the price, performance and it's easily available! 😊

Mediplus all in one gel

The advertisements of this product often appear when I am browsing Facebook. It claims that it is an all in one, (so toner, emulsion, serum and moisturiser can be skipped).

After contemplating for months, I finally decided to give this a try.

I love the packaging as it has a "lock" for the pump ( as shown in the picture below) to avoid wastage due to unintentional pressing of the pump.

On the first day which I use it, I used the recommended amount  - 2 pumps. It was a wrong move for me as I have combination skin. It was very tacky and I was hoping that it will be better after some time when skin drinks up the moisture.. But it didn't. So my face felt sticky thoughout the day and later became too oily by the end of the day. Once I reach home after work, I can't wait to cleanse it off from my face.

I am now using it only as a night moisturiser, and I am using no more than 1 pump of it.

I am not likely to repurchase it as there are other products which worked better for me.

Have you tried it? Do share with me it worked for you! 

Divinia HA Triple Action Series

Divinia
HA Triple Action series

I came across this new brand at Watsons @ Bedok Mall. I got attracted to it by 3 words on its poster (made in Taiwan). As we all know, Taiwan is quite well known for their skincare products. Another advantage that attracted me was that it claims 3 tiers of hydration.

Indicated on its packaging:
Tier 1: Double hyaluronic acids replenish moisture from the outside to deep within.
Tier 2:Repair and Retain: Moisturising Ceramide repairs skin texture, enhances skin protective barrier and increases skin's moisture level.
Tier 3: Penetrate and Lock-in
Skin friendly olive oil and nourishing botanical extracts help hydrate the skin by enhancing moisture penetration deep into skin and locking it in to keep your skin moisturised all day long.

The packaging is quite similar to Hada Labo.. packed in plastic containers, without any fancy design. It is hence convenient to bring around.. no addition weight and price due to the design. I love the simplicity.

I would like to review on
1. My current night regime, which consists of Aqua Deep Toner, Aqua Deep Essence and Aqua Deep Creamy Gel.
2. My current morning regime, which consists of Multifunctional Repairing Cream

My Night Regime
Aqua Deep Toner (200ml)
Price: S$16.10
The texture is somewhat similar to Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion (rich), except that it is slightly thicker.

Aqua Deep Essence (30g)
Price: S$16.10
This essence is absorbed into the skin very quickly.

Aqua Deep Creamy Gel (50g)
Price: S$17.90
This moisturizer is really light. It has similar texture as Neutrogena Hydra Boost Gel.

My Morning Regime
Multifunctional Repairing Cream (80g)
Price: S$19.70
Its packaging indicates that it "offers the ultimate hydration and nourishment to your skin by providing the benefits of toner, essence, lotion, cream and mask all at once. With antioxidising Vitamin E and moisturising Soluble Collagen, this multifunctional cream offers round-the-clock protection and hydration to your delicate skin."

As it claims to provide an all in one benefit, I decided to use it as my morning regime, due to the rush for time.

However, I am a little disappointed with this product as it doesn't seem to deliver as well as claimed. It doesn't hydrate as well compared to the regime mentioned above. Skin still feels slight tightness.  after using it. At time, I will need to apply some creamy gel at the drier areas to stop the tightness.

Overall
I might repurchase the products mentioned in my night regime as they are very reasonable and affordable for the benefits that it claimed and delivers. Skin feels well hydrated, without any tightness.

However, for Multifunctional Repairing Cream, I will most likely not repurchase again as I feel that it is not hydrating enough, for my skin. =)

Clariancy Me Touch (IPL) - Updated

Pro(s): Convenient
Cons: So far no cons yet:
Offer Price: S$888 (UP S$1288) - 1 cartridge included

I have been using Veet Waxing Strips for removal of lower leg hair. However, it doesn't work for me everytime. On some occasions, instead of the the sticky strip removing my hair, my hair removed the sticky patch from the strip! I will get super pissed as i will be spending time trying to remove the coloured sticky patches from my leg.

I have looked at IPL services for bikini line and lower legs. Packages cost few hundred dollars for a fixed number of packages.. Few years ago, I have also signed up for unlimited underarm package.. however, it only allows a customer to have 1 session every 2-3 months.. I will still need to do my own removal between sessions, and if I miss a session, I will need to wait up to 6 months! =(
.
I have been looking at reviews and considering if there are any products that I can afford, so that I can do IPL session at home, at my convenience.

After much consideration, I got this product. It's cartridge has flashes. They also have another cartridge with capacity of 120,000 flashes which costs $999.

Sessions should be done once per week. Today is my second session. I am currently using it for underarm, lower legs and bikini line. I will do 4-5 rounds for all the sessions.

I will update on the effectiveness after more sessions. =)

Update of Review

I am here to update on the use of Me Touch after few months. +P

I see a obvious reduction of hair growth on underarms and legs. I can now wear sleeveless dresses everyday! :) I am so happy about this as most nice clothes that are sold in Singapore, are sleeveless. There will be some hair growth, however, they are very fine, and not that visible, so it doesn't matter.

However, for bikini triangle, I dont see much effect.

Their website also claim that it helps in whitening. However, it does not have any whitening effect for me.. =(

I do recommend this product to you, for the convenience and affordable price (compared to signing of packages).

Yan Palace vs Spring Courts 燕阁 vs 春园

Yan Palace vs Spring Courts
燕阁 vs  čŠ ć˜Ľĺ›

Both restaurants are located near Chinatown MRT Station, very convenient if you are planning for a gathering with guests living at different areas of SIngapore.

Yan Palace 燕阁 (Chinatown Branch)

Tel: 6449-5030 Fax: 6535-6609
Min. Price per table to qualify for private room
$500 (Depends if there is any festival eg. Fathers' Day)
$700 (Depends on occasion too)
Food Quality
I find Yan Palace's food tastier. A well established restaurant that has been around for years.
Food is "so so".. Nothing attracts me to make it my first choice if I am planning for gathering.
Food Quantity
They are really generous in their food portion. Even for expensive ingredient such as sharks fin. At the end of the meal, you can be assured that your guests' stomach are filled.
Food portion is not as generous. Especially they charge more as compared to Yan Palace on the same date. (Yan Palace was fully booked)
KTV facility
There are 2 televisions in every room, so there's no need to turn around to look at the screen

Inserting songs are not as friendly as there's no way to choose by han yu pin yin. We only used "number of words", "top hits" and by singers to look for the songs we want.
There is only 1 television, which is placed at one extreme side of the room. There's a need to turn around, in order to look at the screen. Guests who are sitting further away from the screen, might have to come closer in order to look at the lyrics.

They gave us 2 mics.. however, the on/off switch is missing from one of the mic.
That mic gave feedback when we put it on the table.. We tried asking if they have a spare mic, waitress told us no (despite being a pretty large establishment)... :(

There K systerm is however, more user friendly.. it allows us to search for songs by entering the first alphabet of each word (han yu pin yin)

Software seems to have error. It auto inserts songs that we didn't choose.. very irritating as we have to skip quite a number of songs before it gets t o our song.
Operating Hours
(Dinner)
6:30-11pm
6-10:30 pm
Service
Waitress are friendly and helpful.
Waitress stood in our room and started packing at around 10:10pm. We felt uneasy as it sort of gave us the impression that she is hinting us to leave.
Others
Allows us to bring wine without purchasing any wine from them. Not sure if this is a privilege because we booked their room, but I feel that these little things they do, leaves good impression in their customers. =D
Allows you to bring 3 bottles of wine if you purchase 1 bottle of wine from them at $39.90++.

They are already charging a premium on food when the standard is "so so".. They are not service centric, but placing more emphasis on profit.

Conclusion:
Yan Palace will always be my family's first choice for Chinese restaurant. We love the food quality, quantity and KTV facility. Yan Palace is more value for money!
