SilkyGirl
Funky Eyelight Pencil (Frosty Silver)

Pros: Creamy, Shimmery, inexpensive, pigmented
Cons: Not very waterproof

I use this for my lower waterline. It is very pigmented and creamy, glides on really easily. It is able to stay for about 4-6 hours. However, after that, when my eyes gets watery (due to yawning), it starts to smudge a little (not as bad as L.A. Girls eyeliner).

As seen in the pictures, its colour is very nice metallic and shimmery silver =).

Though it does smudge a little after hours of wearing, it is still a product worth buying as it is inexpensive, and its colour is suitable for lower waterline.

L.A. Girls Eyeliner (Black)

L.A. Girls
Eyeliner (Black)
Price: $5.90

Pros: Inexpensive, pigmented
Cons: Smudges

This was my first black eyeliner. It is pigmented and goes on to skin easily.

However, few hours after application, it will smudge easily. I wore this to my company's Dinner and Dance. As I have oily eyelids, when I sneeze, it smudes from my upper eyelids to my lower eyelids.. giving me "panda" eyes..

I did not use this product again after the incident.

SIMPLE Hydrading Face Wash - For Men (150ml)

SIMPLE
Hydrading Face Wash - For Men (150ml)
Price: S$6.80

 Pros: Appearance
Cons: Triggers Ezcema, packaging, menthol

This product is too dry for James and triggered his Ezcema, so I decided to take it from him to give it a try on myself (although it was meant for men).

The cover of the tube is very tight. I always have difficulty opening it.

The cleansing gel is watery and gives a menthol effect on skin. It is unable to effectively cleanse my skin, but makes my skin feel tight after using. In fact, I feel that my skin is still oily after usage. Most of the time, I have to use it twice..

This product is definitely not worth buying.. though it claims to be suitable for sensative skin, but it triggers Ezcema on James, perhaps due to its menthol content.

MUSEE PLATINUM TOKYO

MUSEE PLATINUM TOKYO

Pros: Attractive price
Cons: Availability of slots, service

I have read several good reviews of it and decided to sign up for their underarm package in Jan 2011, with Centrepoint outlet. They offer an attractive price, as compared to its competitors. The only close competitor is Regina (not sure if they are sister companies)...

They have 3 outlets:
- The Centrepoint
- PARCO Millenia Walk
- Plaza Singapura

I paid for S$138 for the package. Before signing the contract, I was told that each package is unlimited for lifetime, and offers the following without additional charges:
1st year: 6 sessions (1 session every 8 weeks)
Subsequent years: 4 sessions/yr

- If you are referred by a friend, you can state the membership number of your friend, and each will be entitled to a free upper lip hair removal treatment.

- If you sign up for a large part package, you will be able to get the underarm package for free. If you have already paid for the underarm package, they will refund you the amount that you've paid.

The same staff served me for my first 2 sessions.. Her service was great, very patient. However subsequently, I was served by different staffs, they seem to be in a rush.. less patient, less gentle.
Booking an appointment became a hassle. After each session, customers will go to their counter to book an appointment. However, they do not have available evening slots until 10 weeks. The time gap between each session keeps increasing. In November, they only have available evening slots in February (it is my 5th appointment).

The reason why they do not have available slots is due to their promotions with deal websites such as Groupon to increase their profit. However, they do not have capacity to take so many customers due to their limited number of rooms per outlet.

881 deals sold in Groupon: "$100 for Unlimited Sessions (Lifetime) of Underarm Hair Removal + $200 Voucher at MUSEE PLATINUM TOKYO (Worth $388)".

Conclusion:

I feel that for what I paid, this is still worth it as I am able to go to several sessions. However, I have a feeling that in my 2nd or 3rd year from the contract, the time gap might increase to 4-5 months. They might block several slots each day, for their new customers or customers who sign up for other packages, which are charged by session.

I would not say this is a very bad choice, but DO NOT believe everything that they say, about the sessions that we are entitled to each year, and that it is unlimited. I am considering if I should also sign up with Regina to shorten the time gap between each session (toggle between the 2).

Himalaya Gentle Refreshing Toner (200ml)

Himalaya
Gentle Refreshing Toner (200ml)
Alcohol-free
Price: $9.80 (Swanston)

Post-review update

My initial impression of this product wasn't very pleasant. The "plastic" scent makes me wonder if this product has expired and if it is safe to use.

As my friend told me that the smell is normal, I continue to use it.. After I got use to the scent, I feel that this toner is actually ok. However it is nothing more than a normal toner.

I don't think I will repurchase this product again as there is nothing amazing, but costs more than toners like Nivea (at Swanston).

However, I will recommend this toner to those who have sensitive skin as it is alcohol-fee and it is not too strong.

Initial review

Pros: Transparent bottle
Cons: Scent, doesn't work as a toner

This was recommended by a friend of mine. She has been using this toner for years, and I was told that it is able to remove impurities really well.

This toner has a plastic smell. Well.. I would't mind the smell if the toner works for me.

Instead of removing impurities, which is the purpose of a toner, it makes my face shines and feels oily immediately after using it.. as though I haven't wash my face. I have used it about 5 times, and have never used it again..

The only thing good about this product is its transparent bottle.. Allows us to see how much content is left in the bottle.

This product is definitely not worth buying to me.

Biore UV Perfect Milk (40ml)

Biore
UV Perfect Milk (40ml)
SPF 50+
Price:$13.50

Pros: controls oil, texture, spreads easily, affordable, good packaging, waterproof
Cons: None

I have been using this product for more than 1 year. Though the bottle looks small, it is able to last for about 6 months for me, with

daily usage. There are several choices for this product (eg. moisture milk for dry skin).

The content is a watery lotion, spreads easily, and gives a matte finish. Unlike other sunblocks that leaves a shiny film on our face,

this product is not only non greasy, it also helps to control the shine.

I love the design of the bottle as it is slim and small (convenient for traveling). Though it doesn't have any fanciful design, the content is definitely worth buying.

SilkyGirl Long-Wearing Eyeliner

SilkyGirl
Long-Wearing Eyeliner (Black Brown)

Pros: Inexpensive, don't require sharpening (convenient), natural, goes onto skin smoothly, pigmented
Cons: None

This is a crayon eyeliner. It goes onto skin easily, and as its name suggests.. It does last for hours without smudging (unlike L.A. Girls eyeliner).

Sharpening is not required as we can turn it out, instead of having to sharpen. It is pigmented and gives a natural and soft line.

This product is worth buying as it is convenient and does a great job.

SilkyGirl Double Intense Gel Eyeliner

SilkyGirl
Double Intense Eyeliner (002 Dark Brown)
Price: $14.90

Pros: Inexpensive, long wearing, does not smudge easily, packaging, pigmented
Cons: None

Although this is my first gel eyeliner, I think this is a really great product. This product is wisely designed for convenience of its user - the cover for the bottle is also the cover for the brush... (this product consists of 3 parts)... Unlike other gel eyeliners where the brush and bottle are kept separately.

The last picture was taken after 12 hours of wearing.. it did not smudge or fade at all!!! I expected it to fade a bit.. due to its low price.  When using the samples at Watsons, I thought that it will be impossible to draw a fine line with the brush. However, after using it, I realized that it is not difficult at all.. I love the brush as it is able to give a defined and softer line, as compared to liquid eyeliners. The content is easily picked up by the brush and goes on to skin easily.

Dark brown gives a more natural look. However, for more wild and noticeable makeup, black will be more apt.

I will definitely repurchase this product again as it is a cheaper alternative, yet impressive.  I'd like to try pure black when this bottle finishes. =)

Himalya Neem Face Wash

Himalya
Neem Face Wash
Clears skin, prevents outbreaks
Soap-free Cleanser

Price: $6.80 (Swanston)

Pros: Helps to reduce pimple size, inexpensive, not drying
Cons: Difficult to lather

The Neem Face wash is a gel cleanser which is transparent green, as seen in the pictures. I bought the smaller version at Watsons just to give it a try.

On the first use, the size of pimples is reduced about 25%.. so just a few more usage, the pimple will be gone. Skin doesn't feel tight or dry after using.

It has a very natural, "anti-bacterial" scent. however, as it is a gel cleanser, it is difficult to make it into a lather.

This is not my daily cleanser, but I will use it when I have outbreaks. My pimples will be gone sooner, before I lost my patience and squeeze them out. It is a must have in my skincare collection. =)

Bio-Essence Bird's Nest Nutri-Collagen & Whitening Products

Bio-Essence
Bird's Nest

This series of products was recommended to me by a Swanston staff when I told her that I am looking for something that helps to reduce pore size. She told me that products that are moisturizing, but not oily will help - Bio-Essence Bird's Nest products.

Nutri-Collagen & Whitening Advancer

 Price : $19.80

This product is used in place of a toner. I will squeeze some on my left palm and apply bit by bit to my face using my right hand. After applying, my skin doesn't feel tight or dry at all (unlike most toners). My skin feels soft and hydrated though it is only the first step after cleansing.

The packaging is attractive but as it is in a tall bottle, with pump, it is difficult to get the last bit of the content out from the bottle. This product is one of my favourites so far.

Nutri-Collagen & Whitening Essence

Price: $23.80

The white cream-like content is light and not oily at all!! After application, skin feels soft and tender.

Nutri-Collagen & Whitening Cream

Price: $23.90

This moisturizer is a non-greasy creamy gel. To me, this is the best product among this series as it doesn't cause pimples. Unlike most moisturizers which make my skin shine immediately and makes my pores more visible after application, this product moisturizes sufficiently yet not too oily for my combination skin.

Overall:  I think this series of products is very suitable for me, thanks to the Swanston staff... After using these three products, my pores doesn't look so obvious. My skin is also more supple and moisturized. Although I did not buy this product because of its whitening ability, I think it does help to brighten up my skin slightly after using it for nearly 2 months. These products might be slightly more expensive than other drugstore brands, but it is definitely worth buying.

Biore Pore & T-zone care

Biore
Facial-Fit Expert
Pore & T-zone care
for Oily & combination skin

Deeply Cleanses

Price: $2.80 (Swanston)

Pros: Cheap, able to remove whiteheads, fragrant
Cons: To strong, big microbes

I like the fragrant of this scrub. It is effective in removing whiteheads around the mouth (which I always have).

However, I don't really like this product as it leaves my skin tight and squeaky after wash... too drying.

I will not purchase this product again. Perhaps, this product is more suitable for people who likes the "squeaky clean" feeling.

Dove Straight & Silky Shampoo & Conditioner

Dove
Damage therapy
Straight & Silky

Shampoo

Price:
- Currently $7.40 at Swanston
- $11.80 at Watsons

Pros: Fragrant, Effective
Cons: None

This is one of my favourite shampoo as its fragrance stays longer after bath.. compared to clear shampoo.

It helps to lessen flyaway hair, makes it silkier and more manageable.

I will recommend and repurchase this product as it is worth buying.

Conditioner

Price:
- currently $7.40 at Swanston
- $12 at Watsons
Pros: Effective
Cons: Smell of chemical

To me, this conditioner is just like other conditioners (softens and smoothens hair)

It has a smell of chemical, but acceptable.

Overall: I will repurchase the shampoo and conditioner as it helps to reduce frizz and makes my hair more manageable.

Swanston

I came to know about this shop when I started to work at Chinatown area. My colleagues love to buy their  daily necessities from this shop as it is much cheaper than other shops in Singapore.

There are two outlets located at Chinatown. I will always buy my toiletries there. Difference in prices can be cheaper by up to 70% (eg. Adidas cologne). as compared to Fair Price, Watsons, Guardian etc...

It has a wide variety of products like shampoo, detergent, toothpaste, air refreshener, sanitary napkins, skincare products, and even products like SKII. It is very crowded during lunch time, after working hours and even so on weekends.

I feel that people living in Singapore should give the shop a try as you will be able to save a fair bit of money if you buy most of your toiletries there.

ZA Dewy Effect Cream Gel (40g)

ZA Dewy Effect Cream Gel (40g)
Price: S$20.90

Pro: Attractive packaging
Cons: Price, oily

As its name states, the texture of this product is between a cream and gel.

It doesn't clog my skin. However, I feel that this product is too rich for my skin but not moisturizing enough (makes my skin feel oily and sticky but yet tight after using). Even after applying for 15-20 minutes, I still feel like there is a layer of oil on my face (not absorbed into skin).

I feel that the price for this product is slightly on the high side, as the content is only 40g - only last for about 2 months.

I won't buy this product again as I think this product is not suitable for my skin type. I believe it would be more suitable for dry skin.

Super 3 in 1 Charcoal Roasted Ipoh White Coffee

Super 3 in 1 Charcoal Roasted Ipoh White Coffee
A packet contains:
40g X 15 sachets
Price: S$6.20 ~ S$6.70 (NTUC)

I'm a coffee lover. Always experimenting different brands finding something that I personally love.

I always bring a few packets of this to my workplace. The aroma can fill up the office to the extend, my colleagues will look around wondering where the aroma came from.

I had recommended this particular brand to my colleagues and all of them simply love it. If you are one who likes thick coffee, this is a good choice for you.

Impulse body mist - Tease (75g)

Impulse body mist - Tease (75g)
with zesty pineapple and exotic wood scents
Price: S$2.50 (from Swanston)

Pros: Price, Pleasant scent, handy, easily found
Cons: Scent doesn't last, leaves white patches on dark coloured clothes

This product can be easily found in Singapore... I decided to buy 3 bottles as my boyfriend loves the scent of this body mist.

The packaging is light and can be easily put in handbags. To use the product, you have to turn the cap of the bottle, which I feel is very good.

The scent is nice, but I would personally prefer the scent of Izzi - Sweet Love and Impulse - merely musk.

It's sad that the scent of this body mist doesn't last. The scent of it disappears once it dries on my clothes.

It also leaves some white patches on my dark coloured pants and coat.

Overall: I will not purchase this product again as it doesn't last and leaves white patches on my clothes.

Nivea Refreshing Toner (200ml)

Nivea Refreshing Toner (200ml)
Cleanses & invigorates for refreshed skin
Lotus Extract & Vitamins
For normal to combination skin
Price: S$4.90 (Swanston); S$7.70 (Watsons)

Pros: Price, removes impurties
Con: makes skin feel tight

What attracted me to this product is its price, description and reviews online.

This is the second bottle I am using, and I agree with online reviews that it does help to remove impurities. After using it, impurities can be seen on the facial cotton.I love the fragrance of this toner.

Though it smells of alcohol, its fragrance is still light and refreshing - just as its name stated.

It does make my skin feel tight and slightly dry after using.

Overall: This might not be the toner that suits me best, but I feel that this product is still worth buying as it is value for money, effective in removing impurities and is refreshing. I will definitely purchase this product again, until I find a better substitute.
