Clariancy Me Touch (IPL) - Updated

Pro(s): Convenient
Cons: So far no cons yet:
Offer Price: S$888 (UP S$1288) - 1 cartridge included

I have been using Veet Waxing Strips for removal of lower leg hair. However, it doesn't work for me everytime. On some occasions, instead of the the sticky strip removing my hair, my hair removed the sticky patch from the strip! I will get super pissed as i will be spending time trying to remove the coloured sticky patches from my leg.

I have looked at IPL services for bikini line and lower legs. Packages cost few hundred dollars for a fixed number of packages.. Few years ago, I have also signed up for unlimited underarm package.. however, it only allows a customer to have 1 session every 2-3 months.. I will still need to do my own removal between sessions, and if I miss a session, I will need to wait up to 6 months! =(
.
I have been looking at reviews and considering if there are any products that I can afford, so that I can do IPL session at home, at my convenience.

After much consideration, I got this product. It's cartridge has flashes. They also have another cartridge with capacity of 120,000 flashes which costs $999.

Sessions should be done once per week. Today is my second session. I am currently using it for underarm, lower legs and bikini line. I will do 4-5 rounds for all the sessions.

I will update on the effectiveness after more sessions. =)

Update of Review

I am here to update on the use of Me Touch after few months. +P

I see a obvious reduction of hair growth on underarms and legs. I can now wear sleeveless dresses everyday! :) I am so happy about this as most nice clothes that are sold in Singapore, are sleeveless. There will be some hair growth, however, they are very fine, and not that visible, so it doesn't matter.

However, for bikini triangle, I dont see much effect.

Their website also claim that it helps in whitening. However, it does not have any whitening effect for me.. =(

I do recommend this product to you, for the convenience and affordable price (compared to signing of packages).

Veet Ready To Use Wax Strips

Veet
EasyGrip Ready to Use Wax Strips
Price: $3.90 (8 Ready to Use Wax Stips + 2 Perfect Finish Wipes)

Pro: Hair grows slower and thinner after waxing
Cons: Causes itch, not as convenient as hair removal creams

They have 3 choices of wax strips with different ingredients to suit different skin types.
I have tried Vitamin E & Almond for Sensitive Skin and Aloe Vera for Dry Skin.

Both causes some little bumps on my skin and it's really itchy. I am always very annoyed with the itch.. as I can't possibly keep scratching to relief the itch when I am not at home.. lol I will look like a monkey scratching underarms... 0.0

As written on the instructions, the strip needs to be pulled off quickly, otherwise, the glue will be stuck to the hair and it's a big hassle removing the clumps of glue.. There are two small packs of Perfect Finish Wipes. It does help to remove some stickiness after waxing. If the paper is used up, baby oil can be used too.

Though it is effective in removing hair, slows down growth and reduces the thickness when regrown, I am still considering if I should still repurchase this.. perhaps I will only use it on my legs.. Hopefully, they will improve their ingredients, so that it won't cause itch. =)

Nair Hair Removal Gel

Nair
Hair Removal Gel
Price: $4.90

Pros: Cooling, inexpensive, screwing cap packaging, fragrance
Cons: Not effective

Its packaging is simple, screwing cap, with cute printings on it. Its packaging states that it should be left on skin for 5-6 minutes, but not more than 10 minutes.

Skin feels cooling upon applying. It has a less fragrant smell, unlike Veet.

I will leave it on for 10 minutes (max). However, for all the four times that I have used, it did not work at all.

I will give a few more tries before giving a final conclusion. Whereas now, I will not repurchase/recommend  this product as it does not work.

MUSEE PLATINUM TOKYO

MUSEE PLATINUM TOKYO

Pros: Attractive price
Cons: Availability of slots, service

I have read several good reviews of it and decided to sign up for their underarm package in Jan 2011, with Centrepoint outlet. They offer an attractive price, as compared to its competitors. The only close competitor is Regina (not sure if they are sister companies)...

They have 3 outlets:
- The Centrepoint
- PARCO Millenia Walk
- Plaza Singapura

I paid for S$138 for the package. Before signing the contract, I was told that each package is unlimited for lifetime, and offers the following without additional charges:
1st year: 6 sessions (1 session every 8 weeks)
Subsequent years: 4 sessions/yr

- If you are referred by a friend, you can state the membership number of your friend, and each will be entitled to a free upper lip hair removal treatment.

- If you sign up for a large part package, you will be able to get the underarm package for free. If you have already paid for the underarm package, they will refund you the amount that you've paid.

The same staff served me for my first 2 sessions.. Her service was great, very patient. However subsequently, I was served by different staffs, they seem to be in a rush.. less patient, less gentle.
Booking an appointment became a hassle. After each session, customers will go to their counter to book an appointment. However, they do not have available evening slots until 10 weeks. The time gap between each session keeps increasing. In November, they only have available evening slots in February (it is my 5th appointment).

The reason why they do not have available slots is due to their promotions with deal websites such as Groupon to increase their profit. However, they do not have capacity to take so many customers due to their limited number of rooms per outlet.

881 deals sold in Groupon: "$100 for Unlimited Sessions (Lifetime) of Underarm Hair Removal + $200 Voucher at MUSEE PLATINUM TOKYO (Worth $388)".

Conclusion:

I feel that for what I paid, this is still worth it as I am able to go to several sessions. However, I have a feeling that in my 2nd or 3rd year from the contract, the time gap might increase to 4-5 months. They might block several slots each day, for their new customers or customers who sign up for other packages, which are charged by session.

I would not say this is a very bad choice, but DO NOT believe everything that they say, about the sessions that we are entitled to each year, and that it is unlimited. I am considering if I should also sign up with Regina to shorten the time gap between each session (toggle between the 2).
